Neves high route

The Neves high route is considered to be one of the most beautiful mountain trails in South Tyrol and it joins alpine huts Chemnitzer Hütte and Edelraut Hütte.

Starting point: Neves lake at Lappach. You can hike on the eastern, right side of the lake heading into the valley until you reach the end of the lake. There you turn to the right following the signs for Chemnitzer Hütte (2419 m). You can either stay on the forest road or take the shorter way on trail nr. 24 which leads you to the Chemnitzer alpine hut at 2419 sea level. From there you continue on heading northwest on trail nr. 1 and go trough the marvellous glacier terrain passing under the mighty 3000 m high mountains of Turnerkamp and Gr. Möseler. The route continues for a long time with some slight ascents and descents until you reach the second hut, called Edelrauthütte (2545 m). For the descent take now trail nr. 26 heading east until you finally reach the west bank of the Neves Reservoir. Finally you cross the reservoir’s high dam and return to the starting place.
