Klausberg - Niederhofer Alm by bike
From Steinhaus to the Klausberg and back to St. Johann
From the hotel, we cycle along the bike path to Steinhaus. Shortly after the Klausberg cable car, turn right at the junction and follow the signs for “Großklausen.” The road through Großklausen climbs quite steeply for several kilometres. Stay on route 13; the first stage destination is the Großklausen mountain hut. Shortly after the hut, leave the tarmac road at the junction and follow the forest track to the right as far as the Klausberg mountain station. From there, take trail no. 33A towards the Niederhofer Alm. Continue on the forest track until you reach the signpost “Abkürzung Niederhofer Alm.” Turn off here and follow the narrow path. Experienced riders can stay on their bikes; otherwise, it is recommended to dismount briefly.
For the descent, follow the same route back until you reach the first junction, where you turn left. Shortly afterwards, the tarmac road begins again, leading down to St. Johann and continuing on to Luttach.
